A Creative Collaboration with Rachel Korinek of Two Loves Studio
Food-photography expert Rachel Korinek of Two Loves Studio has featured Bessie Bakes Backdrops in multiple posts and tutorials. Here’s our appreciation of her work and how we’ve grown together through collaboration.
We want to take a moment to express our genuine appreciation to Rachel Korinek, founder of Two Loves Studio — a photographer and educator whose generosity, insight, and creative spirit have repeatedly lifted our work at Bessie Bakes Backdrops.
Meet Leslie (and how this all began)
Leslie Osborne, the founder behind Bessie Bakes Backdrops, started as a food blogger and photographer. Through that journey, she realized the backdrop you shoot on can make or break your photo.
That realization led to designing real surfaces for creatives — and it was through this work that our paths crossed with Rachel’s.
First featured: dark backgrounds, texture, and mood
Rachel’s article 5 Quick Tips to Perfectly Photograph Dark Backgrounds was one of the first places she featured our surfaces. In it, she explores how to shoot food on darker backgrounds without losing light, depth, or richness — a skill that defines her signature moody style.
Her thoughtful approach to tone, contrast, and storytelling continues to influence how we design and select textures at Bessie Bakes Backdrops. It was through this collaboration that we developed some of our most loved tile designs, seen throughout her work on Two Loves Studio — including the White Moroccan Tile and Black Hexagon Tile backdrops.

Collaborative collection: Two Loves Studio × Bessie Bakes Backdrops
Working with Rachel led to an entire line of surfaces created with her input: tile textures, marble hexagon boards, and formats optimized for food and product photography under studio or natural light.
Here are a few of the videos that showcase those surfaces:
These demonstrations show how surface design and styling choices come together — the kind of real testing and iteration that happens behind the scenes when a photographer and a maker collaborate.

DIY Faux Marble Backgrounds
The Subtle Gray Marble by Bessie Bakes Backdrops is another of my favourites. It has a nice sheen but doesn’t shoot with glare. It’s a lightweight surface but not roll-up. So it’s always super easy to work with. It’s one of the nicest marbles I’ve shot with.

Rachel’s appreciation for the Subtle Gray Marble backdrop means a lot to us — it’s one of those timeless designs that photographs beautifully in both natural and studio light. Her feedback helped confirm what we hoped to achieve with this surface: a soft, low-glare texture that complements food without overpowering it.
